4th: Medical Data

The fourth test field focuses on the evaluation of efficient QKD network integration in rural areas to secure telemedicine data exchange. The secure and fast digital exchange of patient and health data is a crucial component of information security, especially in medical environments and hospitals. This test field focuses on the implementation of a quantum-secured telemedicine connection between the University Hospital of Jena via Erfurt and the urban area around Sundhausen. In this e-health station, patients and doctors can exchange health information in a secure and trustworthy environment. Initial use cases include the early detection of dementia and cancer prevention, as well as the use of telemedicine software applications. The plan is to investigate the interface of different networks at a connection point in Erfurt and to simulate the transmission of information from the telemedicine network to a simulated government/health insurance network, as well as dynamic fiber optic topologies. This test field is part of the Thuringian Quantum Communication Infrastructure Initiative.
