Fiber Infrastructure
The medium of quantum communication
Fiber optic infrastructure serves as the primary medium for the transmission of quantum keys. We are investigating the use of existing fiber optic networks and their suitability for quantum communication. This includes analyzing attenuation, dispersion, and other physical effects that can influence the quality of quantum transmission. In addition, we are researching innovative approaches to optimizing fiber optic infrastructure in order to increase the range and efficiency of QKD, for example by using dark fiber or coexisting with classical data channels on the same fiber.
